SPRING AHEAD IN STYLE

SPRING AHEAD

Fashion, hair, and make-up trends from the spring/summer runways.

Fashion:

This season, designers reinvented current trends and added flavor from around the world. On the runways in New York, Paris, London, and Milan, a variety of current favorites--cropped pants, empire tops, shrug sweaters, angel sleeve, lingerie looks, rich fabrics and beading-were spun with neo-ethnic elements from India, Asia, Africa, Greece and the American West. From boho, mixes to Greek goddess draping to tribal motifs, the look can be literal or suggested, worn one at a time or in a collage of layers. When the temperature rises, women want to wear clothes that flow. What's new this season is volume.Whether it's a fuller skirt, a diaphanous dress that moves around the body, or wide leg pants, there are plenty of options. Other hot items include Bermuda shorts, colored shirts, wedge sandals, gold accessories and big bags. This year, the look is eclectic, with an exciting array of tantalizing textures and a palette of brilliant colors. The shades of the season include sunny yellow, vibrant turquoise, spring green, soft coral, rich red and warm spice shades. To cool it down, there are pale pastels and plenty of bright, clean white. White jeans are the new law of the land this spring. Like black white goes with everything from pastels to prints. To jazz it up, there are animal, snake, and jungle prints; stripes and dots and the garden of fl orals that stand alone or combine in a riot of color and motif. Look beyond a shoeshine for a new sparkle in your step. This Spring, beads are turning up on fashionable footwear from sandals to pumps.

Hair:

Hair styles on the runway were either loose and textured or composed and smooth. Wear your hair half-back with a fall of texture or smoothed back and low volume; were it side parted, falling over one eye or centered-parted and straight. Evan a ponytail can veer from playful to pulled-together. "Sexy texture", says it all. Texture, touch ability and a little just-out-of-bed messiness are the elements of sexy hair. Ponytails can veer from prim to playful. Try pulling it up high on the head with a cascade of raucous curl. Just comb hair back with a wide-tooth comb and secure hair with a non-snagging elastic. it should look effortless, not to perfect. If you have natural curl, apply a small amount of smoothing serum after drying hair to smooth back the crown yet create soft curls that hold shape. To add curls that last until they're shampooed, use a hot roller with steam in it.For faster results, achieve the 30-second curl by using a blow dryer. get more for your styling! Set your hair and wear it down the first day; pull it up into a high ponytail the second day. A little demure, a little wild; there's an effortless sexiness about an up/down style that contrasts a smooth crown with a fall of textured hair. Simply brush the crown back and fasten with a barrette. To add texture to straight hair, apply a small amount of hair wax with fibers to selected hair strands and scrunch for texture.Tip: don't use too much! If your hair is slightly wavy, apply a spray gel to towel dyed hair. smooth back the crown and secure with a clip, then scrunch the rest of your hair as it dries to encourage texture and boost volume. If your hair is thick and curly apply a curl defining cream to towel-dried hair to define curls and prevent frizz. Don't try to completely smooth the crown, pull hair back loosely and secure it, allowing loose tendrils to fall around the face. To create a neat up-do, brush the ponytail with the sprayed brush and wrap it around your hand, then secure it with bobi-pins. Lightly spray your hair all over with a shaping spray for hold. To control wispies, use a hair wax. rub it between your hands to thin it out, then smooth back wispy hairs around your hair line. Straight and sleek looks nice and neat with a center part.If a center part doesn't suit you, try a side part or brush back the top and clip. If your hair is straight, boost the shine and control frizz with a ion shine spray. This spray-on polisher eliminates frizz. For maximum straightening and shine, spray sections prior to using a flat iron. To smooth wavy/curly hair prep hair with an heat protector to seal and shield hair from styling damage. Spray 1-2" sections of dry hair prior to using a Ionic Ceramic flat iron. To straighten course, curly hair, section hair and apply to each section an oil-free glossier and then dry hair with a Straight Ionic dryer and a ceramic paddle brush. The glossier prevents frizz and leaves course hair soft and shiny. The ionic dryer and ceramic brush helps smooth and straighten without dehydrating hair. Used together, they reduce drying time 50%.

Make-up:

The "natural" look predominates for make-up-less color, more emphasis on skin. And when the weather gets hot, there's nothing like a tan to give your skin glow without a lot of make-up. The trick is to get a tan that looks natural and not over done.Stick with a light golden tone, rather than a deep bronze. Bronzed skin is still in, but looks freshest when light-handed and enhanced with a little blush. To avoid a single tone all over your face, enhance your cheeks with a sheer layer of Bronzing powder. A new look combines warmed skin with icy pink lips.Lips go shiney, frosty,or matte, in pale pinks, nudes, or super sheer berries. Try sheer pink, mauve or bronze shadow for near-natural eyes, and perhaps a little white in the inside of your eyes. For fair skin try earth tones on your eyes. Copper eye shadow with dark brown eyeliner sets off light skin. Espresso or rich coffee browns are great for medium toned skin. With olive skin stay with colors that have warmth like brown sugar and suede. Dark skin looks hot in golden bronze , burnt sienna, and black eyeliner. So go out and find your new Spring look!
