Get that Healthy Glow with Blush
Need an instant skin wakeup call? Rely on blush! Cheek color brightens skin in a flash, giving it a natural glow and camouflaging beauty-busters such as a poor night's sleep. Here, how to choose the right blush for you:
Find your formula. Cream and stick blushes work well for drier, mature skin; their emollient formulas blend easily and naturally. Powder blush works well on normal and oilier skins.
Pick a natural shade. In her book Bobbi Brown Beauty, makeup artist Bobbi Brown says that the perfect shade of blush matches the color of your cheeks when your skin is flushed or when you're working out. Usually, that's a rosy or peachy shade. Women with fair skin should choose light pinks or peaches; darker-skinned women can go for deeper versions of these colors.
Apply it right. Instead of sweeping stripes of color across your cheeks, try this trick: Smile widely while you look in the mirror. Using your fingers (for cream blush) or a fluffy brush (for powder blush), sweep color onto the fleshy parts of your cheek that puff out when you smile (they're called the apples of your cheeks).
